While still in Cape Town, we visited Table Mountain, Cape Point, Chapman Peak Road and Waterfront.
For the very first time, this time we were going to drive the Garden Route, all the way from Cape Town to Durban. We flew in our regular driver, Anthony and started on the drive on February 13th. We visited many towns and stayed several nights along the Garden Route. The route is very long. We were driving 5-10 hours per day for 4-5 days before we reached Durban.
The first night we stayed in Oudtshoorn. On our way to the next overnight stop, Port Elizabeth, we stopped for a wine tasting and lunch at Packwood Estate Harkerville - an amazing wine farm. Next stop was at East London, also called Buffalo City. Port Shepstone was our next stay-over before entering into Durban, where we did some shopping at a big shop called Makro before we had lunch at Sibaya Casino. In the evening that day we arrived in Eshowe, our actual goal, as always. In Eshowe we stayed at Bishops Guest House.
While in Eshowe, we stayed there a few days we visited some of the houses we built and sponsored children we helped in the area, we visited Shakaland, a local traditional homestead with zulu traditions up close, including zulu dancing. We also visited the norwegian church and the norwegian cemetery.
After a few days in Eshowe, we went off to Hluhluwe to go on safari at Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve, a huge national park. We stayed at ANew Hotel Hluhluwe & Safaris and also visited Emdoneni Cat Farm and Zulu Croc snake and croc farm. Then we stayed a night at Peermont Metcourt Casino Hotel in Empangeni before returning to Eshowe.
We made visits to schools and kindergartens before we had to start thinking about our return back home. We drove back to Durban and stayed there for a couple of days before flyint home. In Durban we also visited Gateway shopping mall, uShaka Marine World and a quick visit to Moses Mabida Soccer Stadium.
