We have some wonderful dedicated knitters, who knit for us. Most of our knitters knit for newborn and premature, but we also welcome knit-work for older children and even for adults. Knitted bodies/sweathers, hoods, long socks and blankets are things we recommend, but even other items are welcome. We prefer knit-work made from baby-wool or similar. This has to do with itch-related issues with other types of yarn.
The knitted clothes and blankets we are given, we bring to South Africa on our travels. Most of the clothes and blankets are handed to maternity wards at the local hospitals, but we also hand out to individual families and children, both in homes, in creches (kinder gardens) and in orphanages.
