He went to the garbage dumps and even walked around town, looking for used bricks and collecting bricks for 2 months. And he found a lot - enough to actually build his very own small house. It is still not finished, it's work in progress. He was getting a big window from Linda, that she was replacing and he cut the window in half, to fit to his new house. He still have to find a door. It's admirable to see how dedication can get you really far. The house might not look as much, but to a homeless person, this is like a royal castle.
Craig, Linda's son has helped the gardener build the house. Zandile, who is mother of Lindokuhle also employed an un-employed guy to help him build this little house, so he did have some help, thankfully. He was also allowed to load building sand from Linda's old building site. Craig helped with roof sheeting from Durban. The only cost has been 10 bags of cement and he still needs a door. Which he will find - otherwise we'll get him one.
