We arrived at our hotel, Dale Court Guest House and were met with a print-out, explaining about the water crisis and how it affected us as hotel guests. Luckily we knew before we left from home, so we were a bit prepared and we did bring some extra water bottles and wet tissues.
Eash guest were given a usage up to 50 litre per day per person. To us it was not really a problem. We made sure we were re-using our towels and not put them to wash after a quick shower. No washing of clothes at this hotel.
The restrictions at the hotel were as follows:
- Try to flush the toilet as little as possible
- Use a cup to rinse your mouth when you brush your teeth
- Limit your showers to 90 seconds, avoid bathing
- Take a dip in the ocean instead of swimming pool and even spare yourself a shower
Well, our stay were still great. A bit strange for us to have this situation, but come on; it was onlly for 3 days. As we started driving on the Garden Route, already at the next hote, this issue was not relevant anymore.
Water crisis in Cape Town - An experience and a memory for us. A huge problem for those who live in this city that have to deal with this problem from time to time - sometimes for a long period of time.
