Bongi House
The Bongi House is out of the ordinary and Children of Zululand has only contributed with NOK 15 000.
The lady of the house, Bongi herself has big pride and she was very dedicated on building a low cost house for herself and her huge family. She is a single mum, but also a grand mother to more than 20 children. Her youngest son alone has 7 children and he is only 25 years old himself. A big part of her family now lives in her "new" house.
What makes Bongi house out of the ordinary is the fact that she collected second hand windows, doors, frames, bricks, roof and many other materials for her house - low cost or cost free. In addition she collected her family and neighbours in constructing the house, from floor to roof.
The biggest cost on the house was concrete, electricity and water supply. With a bit of help from Children of Zululand, Bongi was able to finish the house project.
