Children of Zululand has arranged, with our co-worker Elvis, a field trip for grade 7 at Siphezi Primary school. We have rented a bus and they are going to Empangeni, to visit a technology house. An educational, bonding and fun day.

When Children of Zululand travel with delegates to South Africa, we always bring a lot of clothes, blankets and soft toys, as much as 150-200 kilos. We mostly bring childrens clothes, but we always bring something for the adults as well.

We have helped Siphezi Primary School for a while, and we have no extended our help by recruiting two of our young volunteers, Lindokuhle and Elvis, to work as teachers at the school. The school has about 170 learners, but only 4 teachers + the principal. The teachers are running between class rooms, teaching several classes at the same time. This is not working very well. With the help from Lindokuhle and Elvis, they can make such a difference.

Linda just sent us some photos from todays visit at Siphezi school, to hand out shoes and ties to those children who needed it. As usual, quite many do need shoes and many also need a tie for their school uniform.

In South Africa, if you don’t have a School uniform, they won’t allow you to get enrolled. This is a big problem for a lot of children, who really want to go to School. They are so poor, that there is no way they can find Money to get a School uniform.

Because of powerty, young girls get pregnant as a way to get money. Any woman in South Africa will get a small monthly amount when she has children.
